Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve grinding precision of a spiral groove particularly of a lead at both ends by eliminating lead error of the spiral groove which occurs due to deformation of a grinding stone in its shaft direction.
CONSTITUTION: A grinding stone 23 is deflected and deformed in the axial direction by grinding component force to be worked in the direction of a grinding stone shaft 24 on the lateral side of the grinding stone 23. A template 30 is determined to be a shape to control feed rate of an object 11 to be ground so as to cancel lead error of the spiral groove which occurs due to displacement in the axial direction. The shape of this template 30 is traced by a tracer 31 attached to a table 16, the number of rotation in a hydraulic motor 29 is controlled by actuating a servo valve 33, moving rate of the table 16 is changed, and lead error due to directional displacement of the grinding stone axle 24 of the grinding stone 23 is eliminated. Thus, this facilitates to improve lead grinding precision of the spiral groove formed on the object 11.
