Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a copper phthalocyanine pigment, of low crystallizability and of good dispersibility, by the reaction of a phthalic acid compound, an alkylated phthalic acid compound and copper (salt).
CONSTITUTION: 1mol of a mixture, composed of (A) 99W50mol% of a phthalic acid compound (A) such as phthalic acid (anhydride), phthalimide or phthalonitrile and of (B) 1W50mol% of an alkylated phthalate compound, in which a 4W8C alkyl group is bonded to the aromatic ring of (A) component, is reacted with addition of (C) 0.25W2mol of copper or a cupper salt such as coprous chloride, and additionally, when components (A) and (B) contain no cyano groups, of (D) 1W 10mol of urea or an urea derivative such as guanidine, in a high-boiling inert organic solvent such as a 4W6C tert-alkylbenzene, in the presence of a catalyst such as ammonium molybdate or boric acid, at 110W250°C, to crystallize out said copper phthalocyanine pigment in the reaction system.
