PURPOSE:To obtain information on approach to other cars excluding static subjects by cancelling the radar output when the sum of the speed of automobiles and the relative speed thereof becomes zero in the Doppler radar with direction identifying function for measuring the relative speed. CONSTITUTION:An antenna as not illustrated using CW Doppler radar is arranged at the rear of the automobile A to emit radio wave backward. In a detector of such type for detecting cars approaching from the back, the radar output is cancelled when the addition of the relative speed measured and the speed of automobiles becomes zero by means of the signal processing circuit as not illustrated. This enables detection of approaching cars B and C excluding guardrails, walls and the like while the automobile A is running on the lane along the side of the road thereby allowing operators to obtain accurate information.
