Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain treated water of high purity and decrease the discharging amount of washing water by passing the water to be treated containing magnetic suspension in series through two kinds of electromagnetic filters and treating the washing waste water of the filter of the rear stage within the system. CONSTITUTION:The packing materials of the 1st electromagnetic filter 1 using the magnetic materials comprising spiral bands or steel balls or the combination of both as packing materials and the 2nd electromagnetic filter 5 containing the magnetic materials of steel wool or the combination of the same and spiral bands or steel balls are magnetized by exciting electromagnetic coils 25, 26 and the water in a tank 2 for the water to be treated is flowed into the filter 1. The outflow water thereof is then flowed into the filter 5 and the treated water of high purity is received in a treated water tank 7. When the pressure loss of the filter 5 increases to a fixed value, the water supply is stopped and the coil 26 is de-energized. The water in the tank 7 is then flowed back into the filter 5 by a pump 9 and the washing waste water thereof is sent to the tank 2. The washing waste water of the filter 1 is discharged through a washing waste water pipe 11.
