Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the reliability of a data processing system by providing the method of detecting an error occurring in loading a nonresident program.
CONSTITUTION: In auxiliary memory unit 3, several kinds of programs are registered and a parity check code is previously added to every program. In a program table of main memory unit 2, the numbers of programs that the data processing system can use and the record addresses, lengths and properties of programs in the auxiliary memory units are previously registered. Programs in auxiliary memory unit 3 are loaded into main memory unit 2 on the DMA system. After loading, parity is generated for programs loaded into the main memory unit and this parity is compared with corresponding parity in the auxiliary memory unit. When the both disagree, an error display is made and when agreeing, the program loaded is started.
