Abstract

PURPOSE:To correctly distinct the correctable and not correctable error at write-in, by the error judgement of Delay of Start (DOS) signal through double check. CONSTITUTION:The capstan 8 is turned via the drive circuit 3 according to the write-in instruction from the write-in control circuit 2. Further, when the magnetic tape 8 is a given running speed, the DOS signal is produced from the DOS detection circuit 6. On the other hand, the judgement circuit 5 sets the specified timer time to the time-counting circuit 9 according to the write-in command of the circuit 2. Further, when the DOS signal from the circuit 6 reaches within the timer time, it is judged as normal state and write-in processing is instructed to the circuit 2. At the judgement of unusual state, the circuit 5 further sets the timer time to the circuit. When DOS signal reaches within this time, the circuit 5 sets the correctable error and when timer-over is detected, noncorrectable error is reported to the upper rank unit 1. The double check of the DOS signal can correctly distinct the correctable and noncorrectable errors, noncorrectable state is not taken place frequently, allowing the write-in with high reliability.
