Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the number of bits for identification code, by transmitting a program identification code, relative address code, and a page control code for every screen constituted with character informaton, and alternately transmitting a character code and a display code in time division for each line. CONSTITUTION:The character information for one screen is transmitted with three types of packets such as a page control packet (a), line cntrol packet (b), and character code packet (c). Further, when a receiver designates the program number of character boradcast program desired for listening and the page number with a program selection key pad, the page control packet (a) in which the program code PR and the page code PA are coincident with designated ones is selectively received, and the relative address code RA and display control code DC in the packet, the number of packets PN, and each line control codes RC1-RC8 are temporarily stored, and the total number of PN is selectively received for the character code packet in which the relative address code RA succeeding to the page control packet (a) coincides. Thus, the number of bits of required identification codes for the packet are decreased.
