Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable separation with a simple constitution and small energy by causing a difference in flying distance by inducing braking force due to eddy current in nonmagnetic conductive material in mixed materials. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of nonmagnetic nonconductive material and conductive material is dropped from a feeder 18 onto an inclined board 12. When it passes on a magnet 22 elongated at nearly right angles to the direction of flow of the material and alternately arranged in the direction of flow, braking force caused by eddy current is applied to the nonmagnetic conductive material. The braking force acts toward the upper end 12b of the inclined board. Since the braking force does not act on the nonmagnetic nonconductive material 24, the material is thrown along its locus 26 due to inertia, while the conductive material 20 falls down along a locus 28. By this operation, nonmagnetic conductive material such as aluminum etc. can be separated from mixed materials such as waste.
