Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate aberrations without increasing lenses by so constituting an imaging optical system that the correction of its aberrations is accomplished on the incident end faces of image fibers having the curved faces conformed to the aberration curve of said system. CONSTITUTION:An imaging optical system 15 having plural elements of lens constitutions which are supported by a holder 14 and form the image of an object to be observed on the incident end faces 13 of image fibers 12 is provided in front of the incident end faces 13 of the fibers 12. If the image formed by this optical system 15 is curved, the incident end faces 13 of the fibers 12 are worked to the curved faces equal to the three-dimensional spacial distribution of this image. Namely, for the optical system 15 having curvature-of-field aberrations, the faces 13 of the fibers 12 are shaped to the concave faces of the curvatures corresponding to the aberration curved faces thereof. With such constitution, the requirement for the aberration correction of the imaging optical system is decreased and therefore aberrations are eliminated without increasing lenses.
