PURPOSE:To accurately measure from low revolutions to high revolutions, by drawing out the engine vibration detecting signal through a high-pass filter in the high- revolution region while drawing out directly in the low-revolution region, in a tachometer for a diesel engine. CONSTITUTION:The vibration of the injection valve caused when the fuel injection is performed in a diesel engine is detected by means of a piezoelectric sensor 1 and drawn out as an output A through an automatic gain controller (AGC)2. When the engine is rotating at high speed, vibration of a relatively high frequency is caused, while at low speed, such a vibration is not caused. Therefore, through a switch 4, the output A is passed through a high-pass filter 3 in the high-revolution region, while through nothing in the low-revolution region to obtain an output B. The output C, which has been rectified and integrated, is compared with a reference voltage output D of an integrator 13 having a large time constant and pulse-shaped in a mono-stable multivibrator 14. This is passed through an F-V converter 23 to obtain a voltage proportional to the number of revolutions.
