Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a reliable water level detector, by a method wherein a distance between an upper and a lower intake port of a connection pipe having a water level detector is longer than inner diameter of a suction pipe, and the upper intake port is situated in a position which is above a mean water level of a draft tube by a distance being 0.5 times or more as long as the inner diameter of the draft tube. CONSTITUTION:A water level of a draft tube 5 is pressed downward with compressed air fed through an air feed pipe provided with an automatic exhaust valve 10 and an automatic air feed valve 9, and simultaneously, movable guide vanes 1 check pressurized water in a casing 4 to flow into a runner 3. A water level detecting tank 6, having two water level detectors 7 and 8, which control ON and OFF of the automatic air feed valve, is connected to the draft tube 5 through the medium of an upper and a lower connection pipe. In the water level detector so constituted, a distance between the upper and the lower connection pipe is longer than the inner diameter of the draft tube 5, and the upper connection pipe is mounted in a position which is above the mean water level of the draft tube and by a distance being 0.5 times or more as long as the inner diameter of the draft tube. This permits the detection of the water level without being influenced by rise in the surface of water.
