Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a nonrefined high tensile steel having high strength and enabling an alloy saving by treating steel contg. a prescribed percentage each of C, Si and Mn as basic components while suitably combining the conditions of heating and rolling with those of accelerated cooling after the rolling.
CONSTITUTION: Steel is prepared contg. 0.13W0.30% C, 0.25W0.60% Si and 0.50W2.20% Mn as basic components or further contg. ≥1 kind among Cu, Ni, Cr, etc. The steel is heated to the Ac3 point or above and subjected to controlled rolling making the grains fine, especially rolling in a temp. zone under the recrystallization temp. to form unrecrystallized austenite grains. Before the unrecrystallized austenite recrystallizes, the steel is acceleratedly cooled at 1W60, especially 5W30°C/sec cooling rate without delay. Simultaneously with the accelerated cooling, dehydrogenation is effected by vacuum degassing or other method so as to control hydrogen Hc in the steel at the central part in the plate thickness direction to Hc(ppm) ≤1.10- 0.005σy. Thus, the desired nonrefined high tensile steel is manufactured.
