Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a nonrefined steel with high strength and high toughness by suitably combining the conditions of heating and rolling with those of accelerated cooling after the rolling, and carrying out dehydrogenation.
CONSTITUTION: Steel is subjected to soln. heat treatment by heating to the Ac3 point or above and hot rolling, that is, controlled rolling making the austenite grains fine especially in a temp. zone under the recrystallization temp. The steel contg. unrecrystallized austenite before recrystallization is acceleratedly cooled at ≥1, especially 5W30°C/sec cooling rate. Simultaneously with the accelerated cooling, dehydrogenation is effected so as to control hydrogen Hc(ppm) in the steel at the ?central part in the plate thickness direction to Hc(ppm) ≤1.10-0.005σy. Hydrogen in the steel is removed by a conventional known method such as the vacuum degassing of molten steel.
