Abstract
PURPOSE:A powder of vinyl chloride resin with a specific particle size is fluidized with a fluorine gas, then irradiated with rays of a specific wave length to effect the continuous reaction to produce high heat-stability, uniform fluorinated polyvinyl chloride by means of a simple, novel equipment. CONSTITUTION:A powder of vinyl chloride resin of 0.05-0.5mm. particle sizes is supplied through pipe 1 to reactor 4 and a fluorine gas or its mixture with an inert gas is blown through pipe 21 into the reactor with blower 19 to form a fluidized bed. The fluidized bed is irradiated with rays of 1,500-6,000Angstrom wave length from the tube 17 to effect the reaction at 0-60 deg.C at average residence time of 5-50min. In the meantime, the fluorine gas is recovered from the exaust gas from the pipe 31, passed through cyclon 8 and filter 11 and pipe 23 and cycled to the reactor. The reaction product is sent through pipes 14, 15 and 16 and further reaction is conducted in reactors 5 and 6 to produce the objective compound 7 continuously.
