Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a titled steel plate with good productivity by annealing press- contact plates press-contacted with an Al (alloy) plate on the surface of a mild steel plate surface and finish rolling the resultant clad plate at a low draft then annealing the same after softening.
CONSTITUTION: An Al (alloy) plate is press-contacted on at least one side of a mild steel plate under a light press-contact draft. The resultant press-contact plate is annealed under the conditions under which the recrystallization softening of the steel plate layer does not take place and the recrystallization softening of the Al (alloy plate) takes place, so that the mutual diffusion of the core material (steel) and the skin material (Al) in the press-contact layers is progressed. The resultant clad steel plate is finish rolled under a 20% draft and is thence annealed under the conditions under which the Al (alloy) forms coarse crystal grains. Then, the clad steel plate of superior design characteristic and high joint strength is produced with good productivity (in mass-production lines with good controllability of dimensional accuracy without using large-sized rolling mills).
