Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase durability of the device by providing a projection for releasing toggle joint having a prescribed amount of projection in a position wherein it coincides with the projection for toggle joint of a clutch piston in the captioned device for an automatic transmission of a vehicle and the like.
CONSTITUTION: In the hydraulic clutch 18 employed as a transfer clutch, an oil- pressure chamber 21 is formed in one part of the clutch piston 20, while a toggle mechanism 31 consisting of a diaphragm spring 22 and the projetion 30 on the side of a pressure plate 24 is privided in the other part thereof, and the projection 32 for releasing toggle joint is projected in a prescribed dimension in the position wherein it coincides with the projection 30. When a switch (not shown in the figure) is put on, line pressure is supplied to the oil-pressure chamber 21 through oil channels 38 and 39 and the spring 22 is bent by a push of the clutch piston 20, whereby the power of a transfer gear 16 is transmitted to a rear drive shaft 17. On the occasion, when the spring 22 is bent to some extent, the projections 32 and 30 are made to contact with each other by the move of the clutch piston 20 and thereby the bending is stopped, and thus charging of an excessive load can be prevented.
