Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a spring clutch formed by placing cylindrical portions respectively formed on a driver and a driven member opposite each other and closely fitting coil springs in the outer periphery of both the cylinders, which can prevent slipping of the spring on the cylindrical portion by disposing a step portion on one end of the driver that contacts the driven member. CONSTITUTION:A clutch cylinder 1b' of a driver 1 and a clutch cylinder 2a of a driven member 2 are placed opposite each other, and one coil spring 3 is fitted in the outer periphery of the driver and the driven member so as to perform power transmission by frictional engagement between the spring 3 and the cylinders 1b', 2a. A difference in level 1d is disposed at one end portion of the clutch cylinder 1b'. Therefore, when a rise-up portion 3a is retained at the time of disengaging a clutch, the motion of the spring 3 is stopped at that position, so that the diameter of coil ring is gradually enlarged and the portion is pulled up just before the difference 1d in level by the force of inertia of the driven member 2, which causes the spring 3 to be out of contact with the driver 1 so as to stop the driven member 2.
