Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the bend of a wire electrode produced at its cut end when the wire electrode is pulled off and obtain a sure automatic insertion function of its cut end into a working prepared hole by a method wherein the wire electrode is notched by a set or more of blades symmetrically arranged to the axis of the wire electrode and pulled vertically off the wire electrode for the wire-cut type electric discharge machining. CONSTITUTION:There are provided two blades 16c symmetrical to the axis shaft line of the wire electrode 15 for the wire-cut type electric discharge machining. Upon the completion of working operation, the wire electrode is stretched by tension and then notches 15a, symmetric to the wire electrode 15, are formed by the two blades 16c by means of the attraction of both the rear ends of cutter arms 16a towards a solenoid coil 16e which is energized by the conduction of a switching element 24 with the signal of a control unit 25. After the solenoid coil 16e is deenergized, the wire electrode 15 is pulled off by being applied with vertical tension by an elevating head without generating the bend of the wire electrode at its cut end which has been produced when the notch 15 had been formed only on one side of the wire electrode and the sure automatic insertion function of its cut end into the prepared hole is resulted.
