Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure an easy retrieval for the desired track, by applying a servo signal and a constant voltage for jumping alternately based on the signal generated from a signal generator in the search reproduction by which a reproduction head is shifted in a high speed. CONSTITUTION:A reproduction head 13 is shifted in the track crossing direction by a driving source 15 or 16 to detect the extent of shift and the direction of the head 13 to the track through a servo mechanism 18. Then a servo signal is supplied to the head 13 to give a compensation to the shift of the head. At the same time, a constant voltage source 19 controls the reference position of the head 13, and a switching means 20 supplies the output of the mechanism 18 and the source 19 to deliver either one of these outputs to the head 13. Furthermore a signal generator 21 detects the rotation of a medium 14 via a head 22 and shapes the rotation signal through a shaping circuit 23. Thus a signal of a cycle A and a duty B is produced. A search command means 24 is controlled, and a switch 17 is switched to the side of the source 16 to open a gate 24. As a result, the above-mentioned signal is applied to the switching means 20.
