Abstract
PURPOSE:To attain the continuous measurement of the abrasion of plain bearings through the measurement of the pressure change in the oil film between a plain bearing and a shaft resulting from the abrasion of the bearing metal. CONSTITUTION:The pressure change in the oil film between the shaft and the plain bearing by providing a pressure sensor within the plain bearing and forming an oil hole in the plain bearing for connecting the pressure sensor to the oil film to detect the pressure change in the oil film. For example, the plain bearing 7 having an oil hole 7a is provided in a bearing unit 5 supporting the shaft 1 of a rotor 2. A pressure sensor 6 is provided within the plain bearing 7 and is made to communicate with the oil film by means of the oil hole 7a. The pressure sensor 6 is connected to a pressure detector 8 by a cable 9. The pressure change in the oil film between the plain bearing 7 and the shaft 1 resulting from the abrasion of the shaft 1 is detected by the pressure sensor 6 for abrasion determination.
