Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain excellent pictures reproduced at a multiplified speed by suppressing the lowering of a reproduction output for mulitplied-speed picture reproduction in fast picture search mode, etc., by selecting a greater output between two adjacent magnetic heads differing in azimuth angle from each other and by switching their head outputs. CONSTITUTION:On a guide ring 1, the 1st and 2nd magnetic heads A and B differing in azimuth angle by about 180 deg. mutually are arranged and in the same rotating plane with the heads A and B, the 3rd and 4th magnetic heads A' and B' are provided adjascent to the heads A and B. When the distance between horizontal synchronizing signals recorded on a tape 2 is H, the distance (l) between the heads A and B' and the distance (l) between the heads B and A' on the external circumference of the rotating plane of those magnetic heads are nH (n; integer), thereby preventing the irregularity of intervals of the horizontal synchronizing signals in reproduction. Then, when the tape 2 is fed at the same speed with its rewind for a reverse fast picture search, a greater output between the heads A' and B' is changed over to obtain excellent multiplied-speed reproduced pictures.
