Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the cooling speed of the turbine by a method wherein a pump for transferring cooling air is provided between a low-pressure steam turbine and a high-pressure steam turbine.
CONSTITUTION: The pump 2 for transferring the cooling air is provided between the low-pressure steam turbine 2 and the high-pressure steam turbine 1. Air in a lowpressure casing section is sucked by the pump 2 and therefore a pressure therein is lower than atmospheric pressure, accordingly, a safety valve will never be operated. The air from the pump 2 cools the high-pressure turbine 1, passes through the regulating valve 5 and is discharged from a lead tube 6 at the downstream of a main stop valve 7. Thus, the cooling speed of the turbine upon the stopping of the turbine may be increased.
