In accordance with the character-column which has been inputted, a ''kana'' to Chinese character conversion control part 6 retrieves a word of ''seiten(f)'' (kana) from the table 3, and sends four Chinese characters of ''SEI(g)'', ''SEI(h)'', ''SEI(c)'' and ''SEI(i)'' corresponding to the part of ''sei'' (kana) to a display part 5. An operator selects one desired character ''SEI(c)'' from said characters. Subsequently, when ''SEKI(j)-SETSU(d)'' concerning ''SETSU(d)'' has been recalled in the same way, ''sekisetsu(k)-setsu(l)'' (kana) is inputted from the keyboard 1.
