Separation Of Suspended Particles By Flocculating Agents

Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate the odor of night soil and to convert the night soil into an almost colorless waste solution, by adding and mixing a specified amount of carbide cinders into the night soil, and separating solid parts from the night soil.
CONSTITUTION: Carbide cinders formed after the generation of acethylene gas by supplying water or water vapor to calcium carbide, is added to night soil in an amount of 1W10wt%. The mixture is uniformly agitated and blended in an agitating vessel. Thereafter, solid parts are separated from the night soil using sand bed or other proper filter. Thus, the filtrate can be handles as a waste solution without necessity of pH adjustment, while the solid matters obtained by sedimentation or filtration can be used as a fertilizer by pulverising or caking after drying.
