Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an efficient fresh water generator using a cooling heat of generated water, by combining the cooling of a liquid refrigerant and the thawing of frosts in a water-generating portion with water heated by the cooling of the refrigerant.
CONSTITUTION: In a refrigerant heat exchanger 10, water which reserved in a water reservoir 8 after cooling a liquid refrigerant and consequently being heated, is fed through a pipe 12 into a water-generating portion 4 by a pump 11, to the thaw frosts formed in the water-geneating portion 4. The water whose temperature is lowered as a result is fed by a valve 13 through a pipe 7 into the refrigerant heat exchanger 10, where the water cools the liquid refrigerant and returns to the water reservoir 8. Water obtained at the water-generating portion 4 is chill, and used for supercooling the liquid refrigerant to a temperature lower than its saturation point, to operate a freezer in a supercooling cycle. Consequently, an electric power consumption can be saved by an amount cooresponding to the cooling heat which the water had.
