Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve reproduced image density and resolving power by the use of the developer such as magnetic toner by performing AC magnetization to a magnetic recording medium, irradiating a laser beam thereto in accordance with image information and demagnetizing the same thereby forming magnetic latent images. CONSTITUTION:AC inverting magnetization 4 inverting alternately in horizontal directions as shown by arrows is applied to a magnetic recording sheet 1 formed with a magnetic layer 2 consisting of a magnetic material of low curie point such as CrO2 on a base 3. For example, the sheet is magnetized by rotating a permanent magnet 5 in the direction of the arrow A to generate the magnetic field inverting in direction at fixed periods between stationary high magnetic permeability materials 6 and 7 converging the magnetic flux thereof, mounting the sheet 1 to a cylinder or the like, and rotating the same in the direction of the arrow B thereby passing the sheet, then magnetize thereof. While this sheet 1 is being run in the direction of the arrow P, a laser beam 12 is modulated 13 in accordance with image signal Vs, is converged by a lens 14 and is irradiated to the sheet 1, whereby the area D heated to above curie point is demagnetized. In this way, a magnetic image is obtained in an undemagnetized area C.
