Abstract

PURPOSE: To weld fusible bodies by heat by a method wherein an intermediate layer made up of a fusible polymer composite material mixed with electroconductive carbon black is laid between welding bodies, electric voltage is applied to this intermediate layer and self-heating of the intermediate layer is utilized.
CONSTITUTION: The intermediate layer C made up of fusible polymer composite material mixed with electroconductive carbon black is laid between the welding bodies A, B and electric voltage is applied from power source P to electrod D brought into contact with both ends of the intermediate layer to electrify the intermediate layer. After the temperature of the intermediate layer is raised by self- heating up to the temperature necessary for welding, required pressure is given between the welding bodies A, B to weld them under pressure, the power source is suspended to cool the intermediate layer and the welding bodies are welded by heat. Thus, welding bodies can be fused and welded by heat through a simple device only for bringing the electrodes into contact with both ends of the intermediate layer between the welding bodies and electrifying the electrodes.
