PURPOSE: To remove water and low-mol. wt. materials selectively and obtain a high-concn. aqueous soln. of high-mol. wt. materials by allowing hydrogel in a dry state to bring into contact with the aqueous soln. contg. various low-mol. wt. materials and high-mol. wt. materials.
CONSTITUTION: Hydrogel such as starch gel or gelatin gel in a dry state is allowed to bring into contact with an aqueous soln. contg. various low-mol. wt. materials and high-mol. wt. materials such as in blood purification of artificial dialysis or the like. Then, the hydrogel absorbs water and low-mol. wt. materials selectively owing to its network structure and therefore the soln. other than gel becomes the high- concn. aqueous soln. of high-mol. wt. materials. In this way, the high-mol. wt. materials are concd. and recovered easily.
