Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the hygroscopic agent showning no deliquescence even under a high humidity region by a method wherein lithium halide is supported on silica gel having specific fine pore volume in a specific amount and the supported silica gel is subjected to water treatment.
CONSTITUTION: 3W15wt% lithium halide is supported to silica gel having fine pore volume of 0.5W0.85ml/g and, after supporting, the supported silica gel is directly thrown into water without drying to apply water treatment thereto and the water treated silica gel is withdrawn to remove moisture therefrom. By this method, excessive lithium halide on the surface of silica gel is removed and the hygroscopic agent with excellent capacity showing no deliquescence even under a high humidity region is obtained.
