Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the leakage magnetic flux and the writing current and increase the reading voltage, by providing an electrically conductive and nonmagnetic member which produces an eddy current by the leakage magnetic flux caused between an upper and lower magnetic substances of a plane multipattern thin-film magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:A lower magnetic substance 11 is formed on a substrate 15, and an insulator 17a is formed with an SiO2 film. At the same time, a conductor film 13 which functions as a coil is formed with Al or the like. Then an insulator 17b is formed with an SiO2 film. After this, a nonmagnetic metallic film 16 for magnetic flux leakage reducing is formed by the material selected among the Al, Al alloy, Cu, Cu alloy, Au and Au alloy. An insulator 17c is formed on the film 16, and an upper magnetic layer 12 is formed finally. Not only an SiO2 film but other oxides such as Al2O3 or the fluorides can be used for the insulated layers 17a-17c, and the metals or alloys other than Al can be used for the conductor film 13. The layer 16 is not necessarily a consecutive layer.
