Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the bonding strength of a frictional material to a back plate by interposing a specific spacer between the head of a rivet and the back plate and heating and pressing the same in a friction pad fixed by the head of a rivet and the back plate.
CONSTITUTION: In a case where a rivet 3 is used for a back plate 1 and a friction blank material 12 is mounted, a hole 8 inserting the rivet 3 into the back plate 1, and a spacer 9 having a hole 10 into which the rivet 3 is inserted, is prepared. The spacer 9 is formed by a blend which has partially left a bonding force, that is, such a bonding force as being bonded integrally with the friction blank material 12 when heating and pressure are applied for shaping the friction blank material 12. The shaft 5 of the rivet 3 inserted in the hole 10 of such a spacer 9 is forced into the hole 8 of the back plate 1, and this is set on the bottom of the frame metal mold. The bland which becomes the friction blank material 12 is filled, and heated and pressed by the pressure metal mold thereby to obtain a friction pad.
