Abstract

PURPOSE: To make compact a motive power transmission device which makes the shaft of a prime mover and a load different from each other in revolution speed, by effecting such arrangement that an electric machine drives the load by electric power received from an electromagnetic joint and by providing a brake winding mechanism for field poles.
CONSTITUTION: When one rotor 2 of an electromagnetic joint 18 is driven at a revolution speed of n0 by a prime mover 5, the other rotor 1 is rotated at n2 and the electromagnetic joint 18 sends generated electric power to the outside of a slip rind 3 because of the speed difference of n1. A rotary electric machine 7 receives the electric power. An electrical current flows through the armature winding 22 of the rotor 1 so that electromagnetic joint action is caused between the armature winding 22 and the field poles 23 of the rotor 2. Torque corresponding to a portion of n2 in the revolution speed n0 of the prime mover 5 is transmitted from the load-side rotor 1 of the electromagnetic joint 18 to a load 6 through a shaft 12. The electric power corresponding to another portion of the revolution speed of the prime mover 5 is supplied from the electromagnetic joint 18 to the rotary electric machine 7.
