Abstract

PURPOSE: A yeast containing the titled substance is cultured in the presence of linalool to facilitate the isolation and purification of the titled substance, thus producing the objective coenzyme in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: A yeast capable of producing coenzyme Q10, which belongs to Candida, Torulopsis, Rhodotorula or Cryptococcus, is aerobically culutured in a general-purpose medium containing carbon sources as glucose and nitrogen sources as ammonium sulfate. Linalool is dissolved in 1ml of ethanol by an amount necessary for 1l of the culture medium and added to the medium, resultingly about 1.5W 50mg/g of the produced dry cells is appropriate. After the cultivation, the cells are separated, extracted with hexane, then the coenzyme is separated and purified by chromatography.
