Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare coenzyme Q10 in high yield, from the cell obtained by the culturing of microorganisms nelonging to Tilletiopsis or Exobasidium genus.
CONSTITUTION: Microorganisms capable of producing coenzyme Q10, belonging to Tilletiopsis or Exobasidium genus, e.g. Tilletiopsis washingtonensis CBS 544.50, Exobasidium gracile IFO 7788, etc., are cultured in a nutrient medium at 20W40°C pref. 25-35°C and pH3.7W7.5, pref. 4.0W6.0, under aeration and agitation. The cultured cells are separated from the medium, saponified with methanolic alkali in the presence of pyrogallol, and extracted with hexane, chloroform, etc. The extract is purified by adsorption chromatography, thin-layer chromatography, etc. to obtain the objective coenzyme Q10.
