Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent external tension from being applied upon an optical fiber by putting a reinforcing pipe having reinforcing fibers internally onto the end part of the optical fiber, forming the same into a cord shape, and detaining the reinforcing fibers by means of the tension member of the optical cable. CONSTITUTION:A pedestal 30 having a tapered surface 32 is fixed to the central tension member (steel wire, etc.) 12 of an optical unit 10. The reinforcing fibers 24 of the cords 20 which are put on with reinforcing outside pipes 26 having the reinforcing fibers 24 to form the end parts of optical fibers 14 into a cord shape are concentrated in shrinkage tubes 48 so as to prevent tension from being applied upon the fibers 14 despite action of tension upon the cords 20 and the fibers 24 emerging to the ends of the grooves 38 of the pedestal 30 are placed along the tapered surface 32 by using the reinforcing fiber pulling means consisting of a pedestal 30, a tapered ring 40 and a cap 44, thence the taper ring 40 is put on and the cap 44 is screwed by means of the screw 36 of the pedestal 30.
