Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the wiring out of a semiconductor integrated circuit by providing beforehand universal wires in a buffer cell and effectively utilize buffer cell and external pad by using input/output buffer amplifiers as other external pads. CONSTITUTION:The pad terminal 108 of a buffer circuit 100a is connected to the terminal 109 of an input buffer amplifier. In case that an external pad 101a is exclusively used for an input, when the terminal 107 of unused output buffer amplifier 104 is connected to a feedback terminal 112 and a logic gate terminal 110 is connected to the feedback terminal 110 of a buffer cell 100b and the pad terminals 107, 108, a pad 101b can be exclusively used for an output, and unused amplifier 102 can be used for other object by connecting the feedback terminal 113 to the input terminal 109. When the pad terminal 108 of the cell 100b is connected to the terminal 109 or the terminal 113, the pad 101b may become bidirectional external pad. When the universal feedback wire is provided in the input/output buffer cell in this manner, the wire in the external circuit can be simplified to effectively utilize the external pad and the buffer cell with master slice type IC.
