Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify a transfer step and to improve transfer efficiency, by heating a toner image on a photoreceptor to soften or melt it, and transferring the toner image directly from the photoreceptor with a pressing roller. CONSTITUTION:Amorphous silicon (a-Si) is used for the photoconductive layer of photosensitive drum 1. Heat radiation type heating means 5 for heating a toner image, roller 6 for pressing transfer paper 7 to drum 1, and fan 8 are provided. The toner image formed on drum 1 is softened or melted. Roller 6 presses paper 7 to drum 1 with 0.5-5kg/cm linear pressure to carry out direct melt transfer. Then, drum 1 is cooled with fan 8 to prevent deterioration of acceptance potential, thus permitting transfer step to be simplified and a transfer process superior in transfer efficiency to be obtained.
