Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled mechanism which contacts with a ribbon and to detect the breaking of the ribbon stably, by a method wherein displacement of working members displaced due to the breaking of the ribbon is detected and the displacement is converted to electric signals, while the detector is not operated by vibration in case of the transfer of the ribbon, printing etc.
CONSTITUTION: A roller supporting member 34, working members 35, 36 and a rotatory member 37 are each mounted pivotally to three pivotal shafts 31, 32, 33 fixedly set up to a mounting plate 9, and a transmission type photoelectric converting detector 44 is disposed where the both working members 35, 36 hold. Each contacting piece 35a, 36a of the both working members 35, 36 is each contacted with a ribbon 10 by means of springs 39, 41 under a normal condition that the ribbon 10 is not broken, and the light of the detector 44 is not interrupted. When the ribbon is broken, the contact of either working member with the ribbon is released, the working member is turned by the energizing force of the spring, the light of the detector 44 is interrupted and signals are outputted, and the breaking of the ribbon is displayed while succeeding printing is stopped.
