Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a simultaneous measurement of a large number of items and to permit automation of said measurement, by a method wherein antibodies against an object to be measured are secured on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 1, which has atinbodies 2 against an object to be measured, secured on the surface thereof, is prepared, and a liquid to be tested, containing antigens 3 being the object to be measured, is brought into contact with the substrate for a specific period of time. This causes absorption of antigens in the liquid to be tested to the substrate through the working of the antibodies. After the substrate is well washed, it is brought into contact with a suspension which is prepared separately from the above and suspends fine particles 4 having antibodies 5 against the object to be measured on the surface of the fine particle, and this causes reaction of the antigens, absorbed on the substrate, to the antibodies on the surfaces of the fine particles. After a given period of time has elapsed, unreacted suspension fine particles are washed out of the substrate to prepare a specimen on which the number of the fine particles, corresponding to the amount and the density of the antigens in the liquid to be tested, are secured. The number of the fine particles on the specimen are measured, and this finds the amount and density of the antigens in the liquid to be tested.
