Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable an individual measurment of total positive ion concentration and total negative ion concentration, by a method wherein a specimen to be measured, which is halved, is fed into a positive ion, negative ion exchange resin column, and a hydrogen ion concentration at before and after of the column is measured. CONSTITUTION:A sampling water W1 and dilution water W2 are fed to a mixture tank 3 through quantitative pumps 1 and 2, respectively, for dilution. After diluted in the mixture tank 3, the mixture is halved by a shunt 14, and so halved water is caused to flow to a strong acid positive ion exchange resin column 6, and a strong basic negative ion exchange resin column 7. Meanwhile, measuring cells 5, 16, and 17 are mounted, and hydrogen ion electrodes 4, 18, and 19 are located thereon. Total ion concentration and total negative ion concentration are found from H<+> concentration detected in the respective parts by means of an operational integrating circuit 10. The total positive, negative ion concentrations multiplied by a dilution ratio makes an ion density of a raw water. The results are indicated in an indicator 11. Additionally, flow meters 20 and 21 are installed and monitor shunted currents to the columns 6 and 7.
