Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce an electric contactor having less damages of arc-resistant metal by forming a base metal and the arc-resistant metal part to one body by the use of a high-density energy source. CONSTITUTION:After powder of tungsten and copper is sprayed to an electricity- conducting part 1 produced of pure copper or copper alloy of high conductivity, a heat source 3 of high-density energy, for example, electron beam or laser beam is irradiated to melt part of the electricity-conducting part and the powdery tungsten and copper, thereby producing an arc-resistant metallic part. Since the arc-resistant metallic part and the electricity-conducting part are melted and joined in one body by the high-density energy heat source, the damage in the joining part owing to the heat of the arc generated at the opening and closing of current of large capacity is less and the function as a switching device is maintained.
