Abstract

An electric high-voltage power switch has two contacts (1, 2) and at least one gas outlet (17) for quenching gas heated by the arc and a cooling device (12) for cooling the quenching gas consisting of a metal body (12) with through apertures (18) arranged in the flow path of the quenching gas. An insulating component (13, 14) impermeable to the quenching gas, is fitted in the gas outlet (17) in front of the metal body (12) viewed from the contacts (1, 2) and consists of a material (PTFE) releasing a quenching gas at high temperatures. Said insulating component (13, 14) is far enough away from the metal body (12) for the quenching gas to be able to pass through the aperture (18) substantially over the entire surface of the metal body (12).
