Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the production of dust without any adverse influence upon processing of sand, hardening of molds, and on castings, etc., after spraying of a wetting agent by spraying said agent above the molding sand which is being moved.
CONSTITUTION: Dust produces along with movement of molding sand, preferably self-hardening sand of which a binder is furan-, phenolic-, urea- and urethane-type resins, such as in knock-out shops or during transportation of knocked out sand. At this time, a lubricant such as water or a soln. prepd. by adding a small amount of a surfactant, a hardening accelerator, a silane coupling agent, etc. to water is sprayed indirectly above the sand. At this time, the particles thereof are kept at about 0.05W 0.5mmϕ, and the contents of the wetting agent in the sand are made about 2.0wt% based on the weight of the sand.
