Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable accurate detection through a simple circuit, by applying a rectified voltage signal and a logical level current signal to a divider circuit through a synthesis circuit.
CONSTITUTION: The voltage signal 1a is half-wave-rectified by a half wave rectifier circuit 1 to supply a signal 1b to a synthesis circuit 3 and a smoothing circuit 4 consisting of an integration circuit. A logical level signal 2b produced by changing a current signal 2a through a wave shaping circuit 2 is also supplied to the synthesis circuit 3. In the synthesis circuit, the polarity of the signal 1b is inverted depending on the signal 2b and synthesis is effected. The output of the synthesis circuit is applied together with that of the smoothing circuit 4 to a divider circuit 5 to produce a power-factor detection signal 5a. The synthesis circuit 3 comprises analogue gate circuits 6, 7, an inverter 8 and an operational amplifier 9. This results in enabling detection more accurate than that based on polygonal line approximation.
