CONSTITUTION:Styrene resin, vinyl halide resin or other resin and a compound represented by formula I (where M is Fe, Cu or Co and R is H or halogen) are dissolved in a solvent such as alcohols or aromatic hydrocarbons to prepare a coating soln. The soln. is applied to the surfaces of core particles made of ferromagnetic body such as Fe or Ni for a carrier to coat the surfaces with layers having 0.1- 30mum thickness. Thus, a carrier for developing an electrostatic charge image is obtd. The amount of said compound of formula I is required to be 0.1% of the total amount of the coat layers.
