Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce loss in ignition energy by stopping the plasma discharge on the side of cylinders at pause during partial cylinder operation. CONSTITUTION:A plasma ignition circuit is divided into two plasma ignition circuits 12A, 12B which correspond to operation side cylinders 1-3 and pause- side cylinders 4-6, respectively. According to the signal fed from a cylinder number controlling circuit 2, a signal from an oscillating circuit 30 is fed to the plasma ignition circuit 12A through an AND circuit 31. Therefore, during the partial cylinder operation, the output of a NOT circuit 32 has such a value that a capacitor 19 in the plasma ignition circuit 12A for the pause-side cylinders is not charged. On the other hand, during all-cylinder operation, the output of the NOT circuit 32 is ''1'' so that both the plasma ignition circuits 12A, 12B are operated. Accordingly, the loss in ignition energy can be reduced.
