Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the captioned bellows which is highly resistant against bending by winding a continuous fiber impregnated with a matrix around a cylindrical mold, covering with a bellows-shaped cylindrical mold on the inner surface segmented in a circumferential direction and forming through application of an internal pressure from its inner surface.
CONSTITUTION: A winding mold obtained by a cylindrical mold 1 and a cylindrical mold 2 corresponding to a bellows part are arranged on a core mold 3, and a matrix-impregnated continuous fiber such as glass fiber, silicon carbide fiber, alumina fiber, boron fiber, etc. is wound around the surface of the winding mold. Next, the cylindrical mold 2 as a split mold which is split in a cylindrical direction is removed, and then the surface of fiber is covered with a cylindrical mold which is split in a cylindrical direction and is provided with a bellows form on the inner surface. After this procedure, an internal pressure is applied on the inner surface of the continuous fiber to form the captioned bellows. Also when an internal pressure is applied, it is preferable that the internal surface of the wound fiber is covered with a rubberlike elastic body and then an internal pressure is applied. Thus satisfactory forming is carried out without pressure leakage.
