Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate the manufacture of a rapid rotor which is made of a fiber- reinforced compound material and provided with annular bellows on the peripheral part of a cylinder, by using continuous fibers of equal properties to separately manufacture the cylinder and the annular bellows and integrally conjoining them to each other.
CONSTITUTION: To make a rapid rotor of a fiber-reinforced compound material, fibers 21 impregnated with a matrix are first wound around a mold 11 made of plaster. After the winding, external pressure is applied to the fibers 21 to completely press them on the surface of the plaster mold 11. After the matrix is solidified, the plaster mold 11 is crushed. Bellows 2 are thus manufactured. The bellows 2 are fitted with a cylinder 1 made by a method of filament winding. The bellows 2 and the cylinder 1 are conjoined to each other by a bonding agent 3 to provide the fast rapid rotor. Otherwise, a previously made cylinder 1 is set in a metal mold, fabriclike continuous fibers of equal properties are used to make bellows 2 on the cylinder 1 and the cylinder 1 and the bellows 2 are integrated with each other to provide the rapid rotor.
