Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent generation of play in the work roll chock of a differential rolling mill, and to make the differential rolling mill stably perform the rolling work, by offsetting the high-speed side lower work roll to the feed-in side of the rolling mill, and by offsetting the low-speed side upper work roll to the run-out side of the rolling mill, both in respect of the upper and lower backup rolls.
CONSTITUTION: If the upper work roll 1 is rotated at a low speed and the lower work roll 3 is rotated at a high speed, the axial center of the upper work roll 1 is offset to the run-out side of the rolling mill in respect of the axial center of the upper backup roll 5. Then, the axial center of the lower work roll 3 is offset to the feed-in side of the rolling mill from the axial center of the lower backup roll 6; besides, the axial centers of the upper and lower work rolls 1 and 3 are aligned on the same vertical line, but the axial centers of the upper and lower backup rolls 5 and 6 are shifted from the same vertical line mutually to the opposite sides. On the other hand, if the upper work roll 1 is to be rotated at a high speed, the offsetting directions of upper and lower work rolls 1 and 3 in respect of upper and lower backup rolls 5 and 6 are made inverse as compared with above-mentioned offsetting directions.
