Abstract
PURPOSE: To make the precipitation of an abrasive material soft and to improve workability, by blending an abrasive material for glass, e.g., oxide of rate earth element, zirconium oxide, etc. with an additive consisting essentially of ammonium phosphate in a specific ratio previously or adding the additive to the abrasive material during preparation to an abrasive solution.
CONSTITUTION: In carrying out abrasion using an abrasive material for glass (preferably used in a state of slurry obtained by adding 5W30wt% abrasive material to water), e.g., oxide of rare earth element, zirconium oxide, etc., it is previously blended with ≥0.1wt% additive consisting essentially of ammonium phosphate or ammonium phosphate is added during preparation of an abrasive solution or during abrasion to improve the abrasive material. Consequently, the occurrence of yellowing and scrathes caused by the clogging of an abrasion bat is prevented. Since ammonium phosphate acts as a dispersant, the abrasive material in the slurry is uniformed. It is also effective as a pH adjustor for slurry.
